Zante vs Corfu

Two Greek islands. Both sunny, both loud, both ready to ruin your sleep schedule and test your liver. But when it comes to picking a party holiday, which is better, Zante or Corfu?

If you’re torn between the two, don’t worry. This cheeky guide will help you figure out whether you’re more suited to Zante’s rather unapologetic chaos or Corfu’s slightly more relaxed but still wild scene. Think of it as a public service for holiday partygoers.

The Nightlife Showdown

Let’s talk about what you’re really here for. The nightlife.

In Zante you’ve got Laganas Strip. Long, loud and lined with more neon signs than Blackpool at Christmas. Bars and clubs here don’t so much encourage drinking as actively weaponise it. Foam parties, paint parties and cocktails that come in buckets bigger than your head. If your idea of a good night is drinking something called “The Flaming Nightmare” and waking up to glitter in places you didn’t know you had, Zante’s your spot.

Corfu serves up a different flavour. The Kavos Strip is still wild, still packed, still full of questionable decisions, but it’s a bit more relaxed. Famous for its bar crawls and beachside clubs, it gives you big nights without quite the same intensity. You’ll still find UV paint, dodgy shots and karaoke performances that should be outlawed, but the pace is less frantic than Zante’s full-on madness.

So if you’re after unrelenting, leave-it-all-on-the-dancefloor chaos, Zante wins. If you want a big night with a bit more breathing room and slightly less chance of waking up in someone else’s flip-flops, Corfu has your back.

Daytime Activities

Alright, so what are you doing while the sun’s out and your ears are still ringing from last night?

Zante is famous for its beaches, especially Navagio (Shipwreck Beach), where you can take your hangover to one of the most Instagrammable spots in Greece. You can also flop on Laganas Beach or hire a pedalo and pretend you’re exercising.

But the real star of the day? The boat parties.

Zante’s boat party is legendary. A DJ, a bar, and a boat full of people all dancing, drinking and pretending the sea spray is glamorous rather than salty chaos. The music’s loud, the sun’s hot and everyone’s grinning like they’re in a music video.

Corfu counters with its own Kavos boat party, which is just as much fun, and just as wild. You’ll cruise along Corfu’s gorgeous coastline, drinks in hand, music pumping and a crowd of equally up-for-it partygoers. Both are brilliant, both are daytime highlights, and both will have you wondering why all parties don’t take place on water.

For the less energetic, Corfu’s beaches are ideal. You can claim a sunbed, order a cold frappe and let the day gently pass you by while your mates charge about like excitable labradors. There are plenty of water sports if you suddenly feel the urge to prove you’re still young and sprightly. Banana boats, jet skis, even parasailing if you fancy seeing Kavos from a seagull’s point of view. Or you can simply stay in the shade, sip something cold and watch everyone else get sunburnt and tangled in volleyball nets while you quietly judge them from under your sunglasses.

The Crowd & Atmosphere

Alright, so you know what each island offers. But who’s actually there with you?

Zante is, frankly, chaos in human form. The crowd is mostly young, mostly British, and mostly out to prove they can drink their body weight in tequila before sunrise. If you’re a fresh-out-of-sixth-form lot, uni mates on your first big trip, or just someone who loves the idea of dancing in foam while wearing a bucket hat and no regrets, Zante will feel like home.

Corfu, by comparison, is still lively, but the crowd tends to skew slightly older. Early twenties to early thirties. And just a tiny bit more chilled. People here still party hard, don’t get me wrong, but they’re more likely to pace themselves and actually make it to the next day’s brunch. Kavos is ideal if you want a big night but prefer your chaos with at least a hint of order.

Bang for Your Buck

Right, what about your wallet?

The good news is both islands are brilliantly affordable. Drinks are cheap, food is cheaper, and you can have a week of sunburnt chaos without selling a kidney.

In Zante, the bars are very competitive. You’ll see deals like “all you can drink for an hour” or “two fishbowls and a shot for a fiver” plastered outside every door. Clubs often throw in free wristbands, free drinks, or other discounts.

Corfu is similar. You’ll find happy hours that last approximately six hours, plenty of all-you-can-drink nights, and packages that include beach parties, club entry and a t-shirt you’ll definitely ruin.

Both islands also offer brilliant value on food. Think gyros wraps for a couple of euros, pizzas the size of a steering wheel, and enough chips to soak up last night’s bad decisions.

If you’re on a really tight budget and just want pure volume for your pound, Zante might edge ahead slightly thanks to its sheer number of deals and relentless drink offers. But either way, you won’t need to remortgage your nan to have a good time.

Best For… (The Cheat Sheet)

If you’ve made it this far and you’re still undecided, here’s your no-faff cheat sheet.

Best for boat parties?

It’s a tie. Zante’s boat party is a high-energy, sun-soaked mess in the best way. Corfu’s Kavos boat party delivers just as much fun with a bit more chill and killer views of the coastline. Both happen in the daytime, both will leave you slightly sunburnt and very smug.

Best for beaches?

Zante. Navagio Beach is an actual icon. Corfu’s beaches are lovely and long, but nothing screams “Instagram flex” quite like a shipwreck surrounded by turquoise water.

Best for pure, messy, unfiltered madness?

Zante, hands down. If you want to come home with questionable tattoos and even more questionable stories, this is your island.

Best for a slightly more chilled but still lively vibe?

Corfu. If you want big nights, cheap drinks and foam parties but also the option to actually remember some of it and have a lie-in without the walls vibrating, Kavos is your move.

Make Your Choice, Pack Your Suncream

The truth is, you can’t really go wrong. Both islands offer sun, sand, silly drinks, messy nights and the chance to wake up with a slice of pizza on your pillow. It all comes down to what kind of chaos you’re after.

So. Zante or Corfu? Both will leave you with stories to tell and a phone full of questionable photos. The only real mistake is staying home.
