Malia vs Zante – Which Party Paradise Should You Choose?

You’ve decided you need a holiday. Not the wholesome, Instagram-perfect kind where you visit cultural landmarks and learn the local language. No. You want a party holiday. The kind where your liver files for early retirement and your best stories start with, “I don’t remember much, but…”.

And now you’re stuck. Malia or Zante? Two legendary party paradises in Greece, each promising wild nights, hazy mornings, and enough memories (or lack thereof) to keep you grinning like an idiot for years.

Here’s the thing: they’re both brilliant. And they’re both a bit of a mess. But that’s exactly why people love them.

So, which one deserves your hard-earned cash and holiday days? Let’s break it down, piece by piece, from booze prices to boat parties. No sugar-coating, no fluff. Just the honest, and slightly brutal truth.

Nightlife Showdown – Where’s the Party At?

Let’s be real, you’re not heading to Malia or Zante for a quiet evening of jazz and fine wine. You’re going to party like tomorrow doesn’t exist. And in both places, it sort of doesn’t – not until at least 3 pm.

Here’s what you need to know. Malia is like a never-ending carnival of chaos. The Malia Strip is one long line of bars, clubs, and neon lights so bright they could guide a plane in for landing. It’s loud, it’s messy, and it’s beautiful in the most tragic way possible. Everywhere you look, people are drinking out of fishbowls, stumbling between venues, and attempting dance moves they’ll definitely regret in the morning.

Zante isn’t much different – just swap out “Malia Strip” for “Laganas Strip” and you get the idea. But Zante’s got a trick up its sleeve. It’s not just a party town. It’s a whole party island. By day, it’s all sun, sea, and sandy beaches that look straight off a postcard. By night, it’s like someone flipped a switch and every beach bar and club decided to compete for the title of “Most Outrageous Night Ever”.

The music? Take your pick. Both Malia and Zante cater to every taste – from cheesy pop singalongs to house beats that make the floor vibrate. Expect international DJs, local legends, and themed nights that range from foam parties to paint raves.

If you’re after an intense, no-holds-barred night out where everything you need is in one place, Malia is calling your name. But if you want to mix it up a bit – one night in a banging nightclub, the next at a chilled-out beach bar you might want to op Zante.

Either way, sleep is not on the agenda. But you already knew that.

Boat Parties – Sun, Sea, and Serious Shenanigans

Let’s be honest – we couldn’t possibly compare Malia and Zante without talking about the boat parties. I mean, we sell tickets for them. We’re a little biased. But seriously, these boat parties are legendary. These aren’t your average, “sit back and relax” cruises where you sip Prosecco and take scenic photos. No. These are floating nightclubs, full of questionable dance moves, unlimited drinks, and regret-free chaos.

Malia’s boat party scene is ruled by Malia Booze Cruise, and honestly, the name tells you everything you need to know. You’re on a boat. There’s booze. And things get absolutely unhinged. The sun is shining, the DJ is dropping bangers, and you’re surrounded by a boatload of people who are all there for one reason – to have the time of their lives. There are drinking games, dance-offs, and a swim stop that inevitably turns into people trying (and failing) to backflip into the sea.

Zante, meanwhile, brings the heat with Uncharted Zante Boat Party (an equally insane experience!). You get the same high-energy music, unlimited drinks, and mad atmosphere, but with the added bonus of jaw-dropping coastal views. Think crystal-clear waters, hidden caves, and golden beaches. One minute you’re taking in the beauty of Zakynthos, the next you’re downing shots with a guy dressed as a pirate. Bosh!

Both boat parties come with an unspoken rule: once you step on board, normal life no longer exists. You’re in an alternate reality where time doesn’t matter, drinks appear in your hand like magic, and by the end of the trip, you’ve somehow made 20 new best friends.

So, which one is better? Honestly, it’s impossible to choose. Malia Booze Cruise is like a house party on steroids, while Uncharted Zante throws in a bit of Greek island magic. Either way, you’ll get off that boat sunburnt, slightly wobbly, and with a newfound appreciation for sunglasses and Paracetamol.

Where to Crash – Accommodation Options

Alright, so you’ve danced till dawn, shouted “SHOT!” more times than you can count, and made friends you’ll probably never see again but will definitely follow on Instagram. Now what? You need somewhere to crash.

Here’s the good news, both Malia and Zante know exactly what you’re there for. And no, it’s not a luxury spa retreat. They’re built for partygoers, which means cheap, cheerful, and close to the action.

In Malia, most of the accommodation is strategically located near the Strip. You’ll find budget apartments, no-frills hotels, and even party hostels where the pre-drinks are as wild as the nights out. Plus many come with pools that double as hangover recovery zones.

Zante plays the same game but spreads things out a little more. Laganas is the party hub, so staying there puts you right in the middle of the madness. Think budget studios, lively hotels, and enough air conditioning to keep you alive in Greek summer. But if you fancy a breather (or just want a slightly better night’s sleep), you can opt for quieter spots like Kalamaki or Tsilivi – just a short taxi ride away from the carnage.

Let’s be honest though, you won’t be spending much time in your room. These are places to drop your bags, power-nap before round two, and occasionally pass out fully clothed. Just the essentials.

The Damage – How Much Will You Spend?

Alright, let’s talk about the thing no one really wants to talk about: money. Specifically, how much of it you’ll spend (or lose track of) in Malia and Zante. Spoiler alert: it depends on how ambitious your night is.

Neither place is out to bankrupt you. Malia and Zante are built for partygoers who want maximum fun on a budget. Even so, you’re still likely to spend more than you planned. Because “just one drink” doesn’t exist in either place.

In both Malia and Zante, drinks are reasonably priced – mostly because they want you to buy a lot of them. Beers go for around €3-€5, while cocktails are typically in the €5-€8 range. Happy hours are common, but they’re less about saving money and more about getting you started early. You know, for stamina.

Shot deals are everywhere, and they’re cheap. Suspiciously cheap. Sometimes you’ll find deals like “5 shots for €10,” which sounds fantastic until you realise they taste like lighter fluid!

Club entry fees depend on who’s DJing and how exclusive the event is, but generally, you’re looking at around €5-€15 in Malia and €10-€20 in Zante. If you’re smart (or just skint), you’ll do most of your drinking at the bars before moving on to the clubs. Pre-drinks are not just encouraged, they’re mandatory.

Then there’s food. You’ll need it. Probably more than you think. Luckily, both places are crawling with fast food joints and late-night snack spots that won’t hurt your wallet.

When all is said and done, Malia and Zante are pretty much neck-and-neck when it comes to cost. You can do it on a budget if you’re disciplined (you won’t be) or you can splash out and live like a king until your card is declined!

Fuel for the Party – What and Where to Eat?

You already know you’ll be spoilt for choice with fast food joints, but you can’t live on gyros and kebabs alone. I mean, you could… but your digestive system might stage a rebellion.

So, let’s talk food. Real food. The kind that actually involves sitting down for more than five minutes and possibly using a knife and fork (it’s optional).

Hangover breakfasts? Essential. If your body is crying out for grease, you’ll find plenty of English breakfasts in both places – full fry-ups, massive pancakes, and enough bacon to make you believe in miracles. Malia’s got more full-on British-style cafés, while Zante offers some nicer beachfront spots where you can eat with a view and pretend you’re a civilised human being.

During the day, when you momentarily remember that real food exists, both Malia and Zante have a mix of restaurants serving Greek food, Italian, burgers, pizza, and everything in between. Malia leans slightly more towards the quick and easy meal scene, while Zante has a bit more variety – especially if you fancy sitting down for a proper meal.

One thing to note – Greek food is incredible. If you’re smart, you’ll branch out and try local dishes like souvlaki, moussaka, or fresh seafood. Not only is it delicious, but it also makes you feel slightly better about your life choices. “Sure, I did seven shots of ouzo last night… but I also ate grilled octopus. I’m cultured.”

Either way, you’re not going to starve. You’ll probably eat at weird hours. You’ll definitely eat something questionable. And you’ll 100% end up swearing that gyros is the best food on Earth.

Beach Days & Daytime Fun – Recover, Recharge, Repeat

Alright, so you’ve survived the night. Your head is pounding, your voice is gone, and you’re pretty sure your mate is still asleep fully clothed on the balcony. What now? You could wallow in your hangover, curled up in a dark room, questioning your life choices. Or you could drag yourself outside, slap on some sunglasses, and remind yourself why you booked a holiday in Greece in the first place.

Beaches. Beautiful, stupidly photogenic beaches.

Malia and Zante both serve up golden sands, crystal-clear waters, and that perfect mix of relaxation and “let’s get back on the drinks” energy. Malia’s main beach is basically an extension of the Strip – packed with people, lined with beach bars, and pulsing with music that’s suspiciously loud for 2 pm. You can chill on a sunbed, float aimlessly in the sea, or start pre-drinks before the sun even thinks about setting.

Zante, on the other hand, gives you options. You’ve got the chaos of Laganas Beach, where the drinks start early and the music never really stops. But then there’s Navagio (Shipwreck) Beach, which looks like it was ripped straight out of a screensaver. That place is next-level stunning – white cliffs, insane blue water, and a literal shipwreck just chilling on the sand. It’s the kind of place where you can pretend you’re cultured for a few hours before returning to the chaos of Laganas.

If lying motionless in the sun isn’t enough for you (who hurt you?), both Malia and Zante offer water sports. Jet skis, banana boats, parasailing – basically, all the fun stuff you’d normally love, except now you’re doing it while slightly dehydrated and running on three hours of sleep. A risk worth taking? Probably. Just maybe don’t go straight from the club to the jet ski.

The Verdict – Malia or Zante?

Alright, decision time. Malia or Zante? Which one’s getting your hard-earned party fund?

Honestly? You can’t lose. Both are built for chaos, packed with bars, beaches, and boat parties you’ll be talking about for years (or struggling to remember at all).

Malia is compact, wild, and non-stop. Zante spreads the madness across an entire island. Bottom line? Malia is a straight-up party bender. Zante is a wild ride with a bit more variety. Either way, you’ll come back sunburnt, sleep-deprived, and with a few new best mates.

So… where’s it gonna be? Malia or Zante?
